Just in: Lyon nails down Nikolaj
NewsThe city of Lyon has extended music director Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider by three more years.
They say:
“I have big plans for the orchestra and I think we’re heading in the right direction, but it takes time for an ensemble and its music director to find their own voice. I know we’ll get there with steady work and commitment on both my part and that of the musicians.”
Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, Music Director of the Orchestre national de Lyon
“I’m thrilled to see Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider renewed at the head of the Orchestre national de Lyon. It will enable us to further strengthen our artistic and human bond and together develop very ambitious musical projects. I hope the journey will continue and that he’ll lead us as far as possible!”
Giovanni Radivo, Concertmaster, Orchestre national de Lyon
just catastrophic for the orchestra.
what a fantastic management!
Znaider’s comments sound depressing.
He talks as if he has to kick a provincial orchestra back into shape.Far from true.It is a fine orchestra…John Eliot Gardiner,Kent Nagano, and Leonard Slatkin, among others, took care of it.
The city of Lyon is fortunate to have two excellent Orchestras.
The Orchestra of Opera National de Lyon had John Elliot Gardiner, Kent Nagano, Ivan Fischer, Kazushi Ono and presently Daniele Rustioni as music directors.
This article however, is referring to the Orchestra National de Lyon (where Leonard Slatkin was previously music director).
