NewsWe hear from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra that Herbert Blomstedt has arrived for rehearsals of Honegger’s third symphony and Brahms fourth for concert on Wednesday and Thursday.
Blomstedt, who is 95, has been out of action since suffering a fall in June.
After Stockholm, he heads on to the Berlin Philharmonic.
Yabba dabba doo!
Wonderful news!
Best musical news this (rest of the) year!
That’s good news. I feared that this might have been the end of his conducting career.
Wonderful news!
I have a ticket for Wednesday’s performance and am most thrilled to see him perform again. Last time was in 2019.
Truly wonderful!
This is the best news after the grief from HM’s passing.
And the LSO is doing Mahler 2 in Luxembourg.
And after Berlin, on to Tokyo, Leipzig, Copenhagen, Zurich, and on and on and on: https://bachtrack.com/search-events/performer=herbert-blomstedt
It’s an insane schedule for someone half his age. May good health and good genetics continue to serve him well.
Hurray!!
Welcome back 95 years young.
Incredibly he is just a las bing leyend. To conduct which that clarity and sophistication you need to be healthy with a brain of a geniu.
I love his recent Schubert release and hope to see him back in San Francisco.
Every good wish to our wonderful senior colleague! May he be inscribed in the Book of Life for many years to come.
Great news indeed ! Just heard his recent release of Schubert 8 & 9 on DG. Marvelous performances, a true master conductor.
His recent Brahms Symphonies (by Pentatone) are a true new reference edition!
The Honegger Symphony 3 is woefully underperformed in the US. Maestro Blomstedt’s coming concert is a great pairing of two of the strongest symphonic statements.
Mid-career.
May he live till 120.
Best news of the year. I am in Berlin on October 1. I will see him for the first time and hope this would not be the last.
