From the Quatuor Zaide of France:

What a loss..
What a creator, what a man!
Abolishing the differences of sizes and shapes, liberating women and men from the fashion and society standards. He simply celebrated beauty and life.
He was working with local artisans and using very old traditions of sewing, mixing them up with his creation to give them a new life, very much like what we do as a Quartet, to trigger old pieces and bring the new in them the best way we can.
Its our great honor to have been supported by this wonderful man and its amazing brand.
Have a good journey Mister Miyake.

  • Morgan says:

Nice tribute. Of course Miyake has been a near steady performance uniform for Mitsuko Uchida for several years.

  • Imbrod says:

Much of Michiko Uchida’s concert wear is by Miyake. The pleats are elegant yet move well.

  • Angus says:

His clothes were works of art, and his life an inspiration. Hiroshima survivor, creative genius and generous supporter of other people’s talent.

  • Mystic Chord says:

An inspirational designer. I got married wearing a Miyake suit which I still treasure 25 years on. Made from very fine cotton, it had the touch and feel of silk – I had never seen anything like it.

  • Robin says:

Well I don’t like the dresses. Saggy and black. No thanks. Master Miyake has let himself down. Of all the creative things he could have produced he does that. Sorry people, but I see a Funeral Quartet.
