If you can have a 25 year old music director, why shouldn’t you have a 15 year old artist in residence?
I want my next Parsifal to be produced by a 5 year old.
Age is just a number.
Oh, I’ve seen many a production of Wagner operas conceived by people with the intelligence and artistic abilities of a 5 year old.
They’re lucky to get her. She’s on her way to Carnegie Hall.
Chloe is an enormously talented, intelligent and insightful musician. If she so chooses, she will end up as one of the greats
Its a wonderful opportunity for Chloe Chua. I think she has huge potential. I hope it works well for her and SSO.
… and she has an amazingly full sound that many of the forefront violinists in our time are missing!
She is good, but the programing of the Orchestra is horribly uncreative, uninspiring and boring. This is perhaps to be expected since they hired Hans Sørensen, the orchestra manager of the Göteborgs Symfoniker to attempt to become their artistic planner. He only seems to know two composers: the Nazi Klenau and Mozart.
According to SSO staff, he is incompetent, responsible for several administrative farces and is widely derided and mocked within the organization. I hope he is replaced asap.
Correction – Sorensen knows three composers: Mozart, Klenau and Bernard Herrmann.
Another correction: he was from Gothenburg Symphony, but you overstate his position and importance there.
You also give Sorensen too much credit. The decision to have Chloe (full of promise as she may be) as artist in residence isn’t his, but that of the buffoon he reports to, who has even less, if anything at all, to bring to the artistic planning dialogue but insists on doing so anyway.
As if one year isn’t enough, poor Chloe been signed for a second year as artiste in residence.
You cannot expect to have world class international standing, when a D-class administrator and “artistic director” is at helm.
Sorensen is incompetent, lazy, uninspiring, overpaid and has made a huge mockery of a national institution, egged on by his just as incompetent friends from the marketing team mucking about. Chloe is great, but Sorensen and friends are ruining her future chances of success with their flagrant uneducated decisions.
Time’s up for this exotic asian holiday.
Why did SSO and Chng Hak Peng hire a danish farmer? He’s hiding his incompetence behind a 15 year old girl. So embarrassing.
