Russia’s Rachmaninov expert has died
NewsThe composer Rachmaninov’s family estate in the village of Ivanovka was in a state of total ruin when Alexander Ermakov was appointed curator in 1978, at the age of just 24.
He turned it into a museum of international repute and was named Honoured Artist of Russia by President Putin in 2018.
Ermakov’s death has just been reported. He was 71.
The math is all wrong. If he was 24 in 1978 (meaning, he was born in 1954), he died at 68, not 71.
