Rachmaninov Foundation puts boycott on Russia
NewsThe Lucerne-based Rachmaninov Foundation has announced it has severed all ties with the composer’s homeland.
It had previously been negotiating with the Putin pianist Denis Matsuev to sell the composer’s Villa Senar to the Russian state for a fistful of roubles.
Foundation President Urs Ziswiler said: ‘Immediately after the outbreak of the Ukraine invastion, we suspended Denis Matsuiev’s membership of the Foundation’s Advisory Board… there are no connections with Russia until further notice.,
The Foundation must be out of their mind. What a relief it is that Rachmaninoff himself has nothing to do with all this. And what a disgrace it is that by sleight of hand the Foundation pretends to be somehow associated with this great man and Russian patriot.
