New regulations for concerts at the Philharmonie Berlin as of 1 April
In accordance with the Ordinance on Measures against the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus passed by the Berlin Senate, the regulations for concerts at the Philharmonie Berlin will change as of 1 April. The 3G rule as well as the associated verification checks at the entrances will no longer apply.
The mandatory wearing of an FFP2 mask will remain in force throughout the building and will also apply during concerts. Events in the Philharmonie Berlin may take place again with full occupancy of the halls from 1 April. As a result, tickets will once again be available for concerts that were already sold out.

    Good.

    Less coughs.

    • Gus says:

No coughs in any of the concerts I have been to and most people maskless.

      Bliss.

      • Gustavo says:

But programme page rustling, bracelet chiming, handbag rummaging and sweet unwrapping are even worse as these noises affect the high frequency range.

Hopefully the virus will have put the superficial concert goers (those individuals who think they can read the programme notes and understand the music simultaneously) off for life.

  • Garida says:

Good on them. How I wish English venues had similar rules. It’s a horrible free for all currently and will bite us in the backside with the current levels of community spread.

    • Anthony Sayer says:

No it won’t. You’ll get immunity and move on with your life, as we all should have been doing for at least a year, now.

  • Tamino says:

FFP2 masks are horrible for concerts. Will never get used to it.
Somehow Berlin Philharmonie Intendantin has been a bit of a Corona Nazi. Always did more than she had to by law. When you could have a drink in intermission anywhere else in Berlin, Philharmonie banned catering.
Not sure why they are such sadists there. I avoid Philharmonie at the moment.

  • Player says:

How awful for them. Still in the paranoid zone.

  • Rob says:

Apparently it was ok not to wear a mask and cough and sneeze over everybody pre 2020, even though flu and penumonia was killing millions every year. That’s right, and no flu jab mandate either. You got that right, that cat’s out the bag.

    • Community Safety Wokist says:

Conspiracy theory nonsense! The flu and Corona are not comparable. Cite your sources.

  • Imbrod says:

Glad to hear that at least masks are still required. A NYC friend is currently stranded in Berlin after testing positive for COVID. It’s not over, folks.

  • prof says:

Did you not just report that a major opera company had to cancel shows because of infections?

  • PG Vienna says:

Excellent. Of course the number of cases are enormous. Same here in Austria, in Italy etc…

  • Karlo says:

Wearing a mask is such an effective way to curb spread of virus. Good on them!

    • Dr. Birchley Poundbottom says:

Indeed it is my dear Karol! Without the holy mask, the spread would never have been curbed at the same predictable time each year. Here, in our 211th flu wave, you would think people would be able understand the magic.

  • Anthony Sayer says:

Do they also supply colostomy bags for those who don’t have a handy bed to wet?

    • Dr. Birchley Poundbottom says:

My (obviously private) medical practice makes and sells bed-shaped bags for our most pusillanimous clientele.

    • Henry williams says:

Anthony if i go and see the Beach boys in
Germany i do not have to wear a mask.
      Why is this.

  • Peter says:

When Putin cuts of the gas, there will be no Berlin Phil concerts. So don’t be angry about this. You’ll soon have bigger things to worry about.

  • Hmus says:

Proof of vaccination and mask wearing is still required at the Philadelphia Orchestra as well, and though we are currently in a reasonably low contagion level (ca.80 cases per day in a city of 1.6 million) it’s a good idea given the age demographic. Moreover, I’ve attended 3 concerts now with the audience fully masked and have not heard one single cough at any of them. It’s sheer bliss!

Let me repeat, not one single cough in six hours worth of concert!
