Late mezzo’s husband faces a murder inquiry
NewsThe Romanian mezzo-soprano Maria Macsim Nicoară suffered a fall in her home in May 2020, endured severe brain damage and died in December that year of Covid complications.
Police in Iasi questioned her husband in connection with the fall but found no grounds to press charges.
Now, however, the public prosecutor has reopened the file and husband Codrin Nicoară is being questioned once again over possible complicity in Maria’s death.
Maria, a star of the state opera in Iasi, was 52.
