There’s a story behind this performance. The cor anglais (English Horn) solo is played by Davida Scheffers, who suffers from such a painful neuromuscular condition that she thought she would never play professionally again. However, she won a competition to perform with this orchestra, and played John Williams’ glorious cor anglais solo in what is under any circumstances quite a tear-jerker, the main theme from “Schindler’s List” (the violin soloist is Simone Lamsma). There’s more though, as the young lady in the audience who is featured prominently in the video is Davida’s daughter – and it’s her eighteenth birthday.
For me the best of him is the Long Goodbye the masterpice of Robert Altman.
This is his best.
