Barenboim has undergone surgery on his back
NewsBerlin’s Pierre Boulez-saal has let it be known that Daniel Barenbom underwent bck surgery on February 6.
He is recovering well at home and hopes to resume his engagements early in March.

That’s fast healing, and it’s rather concerning if true that he is to beack on the platform in March. DB, a fan of Furtwangler, would do well to learn from the Maestro’s example that the desire for a quick cure to ones ailments does not always end well. Better to recover well in time, than rush it – even if only for the sake of long term personal health rather than any musical commitments.
Daniel will listen to the best medical advice and make his own decision. We wish him well.
Mariusz Kwiecień had to end his opera career after unsuccessful back surgery. They fail at a very high rate. It’s not something to rush into.
It depends on semantics. People refer to all procedures as an “operation.” But having undergone back procedures, there is a massive difference ranging from getting up from the table and going back to work immediately to long-term rehabilitation. Without knowing precisely what was done, it is truly impossible that say.

It was a cover-up story, the real location of the operation was somewhere else, a location less suited for PR.

No one plays The Moonlight like him?…..Errrr ,dunno…..I´ve heard quite alot……Just some of those still active today…..Hewitt,Schiff,Andsnes,Jonathan Biss,Levit….especially also in the 3rd mvt,where abit more than powerful lyricism is required

He will be back on 6TH march conducting Schubert Unfinished symp and Beethoven ‘Eroïca’ to raise funds for Ukraine.
