Strings get a major shakeout in Barcelona orchestra
NewsSince Ludovic Morlot was named chief conductor, there has been a lively game of musical chairs going on at the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra.
There’s a new principal cello, Charles-Antoine Archambault. Two co-principal violas, Aine Suzuki & Benjamin Beck. And an associate concertmaster, Jaha Lee.
The French-Korean co-leader previously held the same position at the Orchestre National de Lyon.
Morlot knows his business.

Mr. Lebrecht, with all due respect, each of these musicians were hired before Maestro Morlot was officially named as the new music director of the OBC. In fact, he was not even present at the auditions. Now, we are indeed looking forward to our collaboration with the Maestro and under his leadership undoubtedly more fine musicians will join our orchestra.
