Just in: Sydney Symphony sheds its chief
NewsEmma Dunch has left the Sydney Symphony Orchestra with immediate effect, claiming she has been a victim of a ‘politically architected ‘hit job’ of the highest order’.
Dunch says she will be pursuing a case for harrassment.
She was previously a cultural PR in New York and had not run an orchestra before.
Australia is looking for another new captain.
SMH report here
What a peculiar case. Hopefully she lands on her feet. I hear rumors of an opening at the Cleveland Orchestra.
She moved back to Australia to be with her aging mother & other family. Don’t think they’ll be coming back to the States.

“Equity, diversity, inclusion” over and over and over. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
CEO of a symphony has to have political and relational skills of the highest order, as well as “knowing the job”. Looks like they were lacking here.
Architect is not a verb.
