Ensemble Intercontemporain has change of chief
NewsPierre Bleuse will become Music Director of the Ensemble Intercontemporain from 2023. He succeeds Matthias Pintscher, who will have led for ten years.
The Ensemble, founded by Pierre Boulez as a cutting-edge assault troupe, has rather faded over time.
Dear Mr. Lebrecht ,
The faded out ensemble was the first foreign group to be invited to perform in Japan last August ( under strict quarantine conditions ) since the Vienna Philharmonic in November 2020 and a few days later celebrated the 21/22 season opening concert and the 100th anniversary of Moscow s prestigious Tchaikovsky hall performing the Russian premiere of Boulez s Repons …
Maybe it has faded a bit because of the works. For instance, this is Lachenmann, although there is not much to laugh:

The ensemble will be in good hands with Pierre Bleuse.
He must have had a huge advantage compared to his competitors thanks to his name being so similar to that of the revered Founder.
Dear Sir ,
I am writing to bring you to notice an unfortunate error in your criticizing the ‘ health’ of the Ensemble Intercontemporain . Pierre Boulez passed a few years ago but the ensemble he created keeps performing in the most prestigious places all over the world – even under severe circumstances you definitely are aware of .
I would be obliged if you would therefore make sure of the facts before writing a critic we usually enjoy reading.
Yours faithfully
It is a matter of time that this great maestra becomes a future director of Ensemble Intercontemporain.
