The young American conductor Jonathon Heyward, chief conductor of the Nordwestdeutsche, Philharmonie has accepted an exclusive outfit deal with the fashion label Baldessarini.

The label will supply the conductor ‘with business and casual looks for his performances and concert tours’.

‘Art and culture have always been very important to the Ahlers Group and especially to Baldessarini and we are always involved in these areas in a variety of ways. Jonathan Heyward is a dynamic, inspiring, international face with a connection to our region and thus the perfect brand ambassador for Baldessarini,’ says Florian Wortmann, Baldessarini’s new managing director.

The arent group, Ahlers, is based in northwest Germany.

Heyward, 27, will have to shop elsewhere for socks.

That’s not “getting a fashion label.” It’s like an actor being known to wear only Hugo Boss, or Armani.

    • Beelzebub says:

I would love to be known for and have the opportunity to wear a fashion label. Seems like sour grapes to me……

      • V. Lind says:

It’s a sponsorship deal, that’s all. Instead of wearing patches on the sleeve of his tails during concerts, or sporting a logoed baseball cap, he wears a single designer’s clothes and makes sure people know about it.

I wear designer clothes, so I have no need to feel sour grapey about anybody. I do favour a couple of designers, but nobody owns me, because I pay for them.

  • Fernandel says:

His Dvorak’s New World with the LSO filmed and broadcast in 2020 is one of the most appallingly inconsistent performances ever. Worth viewing.

    • Beelzebub says:

Were you listening with ear muffs on, it was wonderful! Defo worth a watch, it gave me goose bumps which is very hard to do!

    • Pianist101 says:

How did it go when you conducted them? Or have you not…

    • SR says:

And you base this comment on what??? I was witness to this performance. I had never been prouder of one of one of my students! Maestro Heyward is one to watch! He weaves a magic that is a joy to hear.

  • Achim Mentzel says:

It won’t help him anyways to become a better conductor.

  • Violin says:

Great to see a stellar conductor bringing classical music into the real world.

I’ve worked with him amongst hundreds of other conductors, he stands out as one to watch…wouldn’t be surprised to see him MD an A orchestra within next 5 years.
