I’ve been enjoying her new album. I wonder whether we’ll hear her in any strange upcoming Wagner productions.
For that there’s the great Lise Davidsen.
And many others I hope are allowed other tgan Lise Davidsen to avoid a monopoly and a one-dimensional approach or interpretation or preference for any piece of music, including Wagner. The more, the better. Singers are not robots but creative artists, so give them space to be different and indidual. Never should it be Netrebko v Davidsen.
She should not be singing Wagner – or Strauss. Even if she were more vocally suitable, her German diction is atrocious.
Is all that’s wrong? German diction easy to fix as any language is for songers. Just ask any of us British singers. Every singer brings their own identity to any music that iant their own.
Who cares? Salsi + Meli + Netrebko translates as a total vocal disaster… La Scala is since already many years just like a very average provincial opera house, nothing more… Meyer seems not to change anything, he just continues with the mess from before him…
Great news! Now she only needs to worry about her vocal issues for which, unfortunately, there is no surgery.
