Austrian coloratura dies, 83
RIPThe international soprano Dorit Hanak has died.
She performed at Glyndebourne, La Monnaie, the Liceu and many other houses.
Her signature role was Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier.

A wonderful, elegant singer and a kind colleague. I worked with her in the 80’s at the Opera in Graz, she still sung some main roles (and I was vocal coach there). Generous, always helpful, far from any arrogant attitude.
I had the pleasure to work with Dorit in preparation for an operetta gala in Graz! What a wonderful human being and coach she was!
