The Lithuanian-Armenian soprano, in high demand the world over, has found diary space to sing the first two Tatianas in Vienna’s revival of Eugene Onegin next week.

She replaces the Australian Nicole Car, who has fallen sick.

The rest of the run will be sung by Elena Guseva.

Vienna, which is struggling to fill the house, shsould certainly be helped by Grigorian’s audience appeal.

  • Violinista Italiana says:

Asmik is very good soprano. I know that Maestro Riccardo Muti truly loves her and he has given her a “dedica” in Salzburg

  • Nik says:

    I hope she’s back for Saturday’s Jenůfa

  • John Nelson says:

Whilst appreciating Asmik Grigorian’s talents, and also knowing her background and parents, it is important to recognize and appreciate the voice of Elena Guseva. Elena has in her own quiet way built up a reputation in many Western opera houses, including Berlin, Vienna, Lyon, Savonlinna, as well as in Moscow, and will soon also appear in La Scala, covering Puccini, Verdi, Janáček roles as well as the standard Russian repertoire.
