Sado move for New Japan Philharmonic

The Tokyo-based orchestra has named Yutaka Sado, 60, as its next music director, starting April 2023.

Sado, who is head of Vienna’s Tonkünstler orchestra, will succeed Toshiyuki Kamioka.

Like many world orchestras in mid-Covid, the NJP is hiring local.

    Is Tashiyuki Kamioka moving on to a better orchestra? He is not only a virtuoso conductor, but a great musician also.

    Spider senses tingling. I am guessing the NJP will get along with and appreciate Sado-san much more as their new MD.(Perhaps among musicians in the NJP, Kamioka-san was so popular there?)
