Arthur Kaptainis informs us that Rafael Payare, the symphony’s music director, is locked down at home in San Diego with a case of Covid.

His wife, Alisa Weilerstein, had it a few days ago.

‘What is important,’ Payare said, ‘is that because we are vaccinated, it didn’t go to a different stage. Because we never know what this virus can do…’

The article says he tested negative and then positive with no 3rd test to confirm. To me that leaves doubt. I had something that knocked me on my butt back in May and I tested negative for covid twice. And it’s also interesting how I contacted something while wearing a mask and being around other masked people. I hope someday people will realize that masks don’t work.

Poor sKeptical Karl, tests don’t work, masks don’t work, distancing doesn’t work, vaccines don”t work, Covid is fake.

Skepticism is one of the fundamental elements of science. If you were a scientist like me you would understand that. Look up the term ‘pathological science.’ It has given us things like N-rays, polywater, Martian canals, and cold fusion. Now we are having ridiculous mask wars and vaccine mandates that infringe on our freedom even though there is no confirmed scientific evidence that they work. If covid was as deadly as smallpox and the vaccine was a sterilizing vaccine you would have a case for mandatory vaccination. But that’s clearly not the case. I believe people should have the right to refuse the vaccine because freedom is important, not because I don’t believe covid is real and is 4 times more deadly than the flu.

Yes, and there is a line between skepticism and denialism. The former is a suspension of judgment to evaluate evidence. The latter means denying what is plainly in front of your eyes, and you barrel right through the first into the second.

What kind of scientist are you Karl, a scientologist?

    Get your shots, folks !

  • HugoPreuss says:

Patiently waiting for the anti vaccination crowd to get into the debate and criticize the music director for believing in fake news vaccinations…

  • Sir David Geffen-Hall says:

If you are married, it’s better to have Covid along with your wife rather than to come home and tell your wife you have Covid and you have no idea how you got it.

  • Christopher says:

I wish him a quick recovery

  • Peter San Diego says:

Here’s to a rapid and full recovery for both. They were certainly in fine form for the opening of the outdoor Rady Shell in San Diego on August 6th.

  • BRUCEB says:

Glad to hear they are not seriously ill, and glad to hear their sensible comments about being vaccinated.

  • sam says:

Oh well, I guess that $85M open outdoor Rady Shell is not open enough.

Just kidding. It’s a stunning venue set on a peninsula on the water front that any orchestra would love to possess as its own (well, in a year-round mild and sunshine climate, which 99% of orchestras in the world don’t have) in this new Age of Covid (it ain’t going away folks).

    Speedy recovery.
