British conductor steps down in Germany
NewsThe General Music Director of the opera and symphony orchestra in Wuppertal, Julia Jones, has given her last performance at the end of a five-year contract.
Jones, 60, has been a trailblazer for women conductors in Germany, earning widespread respect for, as the city mayor put it, her precise beat and direct language.
She’s a fine conductor with great energy.
What a delight to have worked with her a few times in Strasbourg!
