Organ world in shock at death of young influencer, 35
mainThe rising Dutch organist Hugo Bakker died on Monday of unstated causes. He was 35.
Bakker was organist of St Martin’s church in Zaltbommel and owner of the organ and vocal music publisher Valeur Ajoutée.
He taught in the elite stream at the Amsterdam music school.

I trust the other information “we” await are details of a funeral, service of remembrance or link to donations and not cause of death. It’s so invasive and frankly unhealthy this need to know a person’s cause of death. Surely that’s a private matter. Let’s just mourn these deaths.
As sad as this is did Mr Bakker describe himself as an ‘influencer’ which to me conjures up vapid air heads sunning themselves in Dubai as they tell their gullible followers how they too can have big lips or pecs if they pay £€$¥’s to buy the product of the company paying them to be poolside? Certainly not the profile of Mr Bakker whose profile is far more profound. May he RIP.
That’s just what I was about to post. In my experience, those in our world who call themselves “influencers” are usually failed musicians trying to salvage a semblance of notability. It seems Hugo Bakker was a notable young organist with no need for the “influencer” label.
Well said CB! To describe himself as such is a gross insult. Doing so suggests that his only talent is to post drivel on the (anti-)social media so that naive morons will ‘like’ them on that basis alone.
