Tim Page returns to work
mainI am thrilled to hear that my friend Tim Page, Pulitzer-winning critic and latterly a brilliant university teacher, will be Distinguished Visiting Professor at Peabody Conservatoire in the next academic year.
Tim will teach a masterclass titled Writing About Music.
Tim, 66, suffered a brain bleed in 2015 and has been on a long road to recovery, which has included six months of touring the Covid-stricken Balkans on his own in search of musical life.
I can think of no better reason for visiting Baltimore next year,
Tim Page was the finest music critic ever to write for the Washington Post. However, even before the latest iteration of wokism he was fired from the paper for having the temerity to mock the former corrupt and addled brained mayor in an offline comment. Like the rest of the manure laden paper it has been all downhill since. Glad he as fully recovered
“Manure laden paper”? Why does this site attract the worst of the right wing troglodytes? I mean, Norman seems a decent chap all things considered.
Great news
I have enjoyed Mr. Page’s writings in the past and I hope he is able to resume them while also teaching at Peabody.
Also, you wrote, “I can think of no better reason for visiting Baltimore next year…” Because the CEO and music director will be departing from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and because of personnel changes with important musicians leaving that orchestra, would you consider adding those as good reasons to stop by Baltimore if for no other reason than to satisfy curiosity about what’s going on musically in “The Charm City”?
Tim is one of the finest music journalists of our generation. I have known him since his days at Newsday. Not only a formidable writer, he is one heckuva great guy! Stay healthy, Tim! Good luck with Johns Hopkins!
Those incredibly fortunate students!
Wonderful news.
I’d be hard pressed to think of any reason for ever visiting Baltimore again. And I was an Orioles fan before the Blue Jays were formed.
