New York loses versatile singer and teacher, 92
OperaThe formidable Eileen Schauler died last Wednesday at the age of 92.
She was a powerful Katerina Ismaelova at City Opera, as well as Anna Maurannt in Street Scene, Lizzie Bordon, Tosca, the Marschallin, the Governess in Turn of the Screw and many other roles. She also sang on Broadway.
After retiring from the stage, she taught both privately and in college.
