Israel mourns first trumpet
UncategorizedThe Israel Phiharmonic’s prodigious principal trumpet for 45 years, Ilan Eshed, has died at the age of 75.
Born on kibbutz, he joined the orchestra in 1967 aged 21 and retired in 2012.
He can be heard loud and proud on recordings with Bernstein, Mehta and others.
His son, Guy Eshed, is the IPO’s principal flute.
