Zurich rushes in new head of opera

Zurich Opera has named Annette Weber as its new director of opera. She replaces Michael Fichtengoltz, who departed in unexplained circumstances that are under investigation.

Weber, who starts in September, is presently casting director of Staatsoper Hamburg.

    Zurich Opera have done well in securing Annette Weber to fill Michael Fichtengoltz’s shoes. He is one of the most brilliant and knowledgeable casting minds in the business and will surely be snapped up by another major opera company before too long.
