Composer loses new opera in fire at home
mainThe Belgian composer Philippe Boesmans, 84, is said to be distraught after a fire at his Brussels apartment destroyed many of his possessions, including an opera he was in the process of writing.
It had been commissioned by La Monnaie, where he is resident composer.
Nope, one only needs to read this article published four days ago – the opera was already safeguarded by his editor, and the opera was commissioned by *both* La Monnaie and the Lyon National Opera.

The wrath of some envious gods, because Boemans writes excellent theatre music:

Sorry for the typo, s to be inserted at the appropriate location.
Thank god. Nobody needs another opera.
When I’m up against a deadline, “the dog ate my homework,” is usually enough.
I’ve never had to burn the apartment down.
