Cancer claims an opera chief

The death has been announced of Bob McPhee, head of Calgary Opera for 19 years. He retired in 2018 for health reasons.

A former baritone, he worked his way up the ladder through poats as Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Edmonton Symphony and Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tne conductor Bramwell Tovey comments: ‘He was the most wonderful and trustworthy of colleagues.’
