The redoubtable Libuše Domanínská, soloist in 50 leading roles in Prague and Brno, died today in Hodonin at a great age.

Her Jenufa is classic.

  • Bill Ecker says:

Libuse will be followed by all sorts of clips of her singing Czech opera. However, she was the lyrico spinto at the National Theater in Prague who sang all the Verdi and Puccini roles they staged. Her best role of all was considered to be Aida. Here she is as Cio-Cio San a bit too much vibrato for my taste, but beautifully sung.
