So they had peviously over-underestimated the threat and thus overestimated the available preliminaryness.
This didn’t happen with the Solidarity Movement. But back then John Paul II was giving them a hand.
Now they are all alone.
Queen elisabeth will be next to postpone.
Sadly this is most certainly the case.
Who cares? It was a long time ago when pianists like Friedrich Gulda or Maurizio Pollini or Martha Argerich participated in competitions. Now is the time of technical broilers, with their teachers in the jury.
Jury members of the Chopin Competition aren’t allowed to vote for their students. And the fact that so many young pianists are technically impeccable does not mean they are not incredibly expressive as well. Seong-Jin Cho will be every bit as much of a legend as Argerich.
You are absolutely right. I’m sorry about my unfortunate comment. And I feel that “The Legend of Seong-Jin Cho” sounds already as a biopic title.
I heard Seong-Jin Cho and Daniil Trifonov back to back at the LA Phil 2 years ago, both played Rachmaninoff, and I much preferred Trifonov – more expressive clearly you could feel this music was in his blood and soul.
And there is another legend coming: Alexander Malofeev….
yes, legend in their own mind.
“Fingers crossed….?” Surely sir, shome mishtake if it’s for a piano competition…
Shiir, “crossed” is shtil bätter than croschshed.
Looks like they’re in for a lang lang wait.
BTW many top-tier pianists never won competitions.
Lang Lang and Yuja did not win any competitions.
piano competitions are some the most unfair and corrupt competitive events on the planet. They should postpone indefinitely. No one will shed tears, with the exception of the jury.
