Media war: ZDF wins Kaufmann for Christmas
mainIn the annual tussle between German’s two main TV networks, the Mainz-based ZDF has put in its thumb and pulled out the big plum.
It will broadcast a Christmas special with Jona Kaufmann at 10.15 on Christmas Eve.
Kaufmann will appear from the Church of St. Nikolaus in Oberndorf near Salzburg, where Silent Night, Holy Night was first heard in 1818.
I would have preferred Klaus Florian Vogt with “Kling Glöckchen, klingelingeling!”

Or ZDF could also consider René Kollo who is still going strong with light music:

Haha – Heintje is an improvement over KF Vogt.
Vogt – with that white strangulated pushed-up choirboy voice and totally vacant staring zero IQ stare? Yuk!!!
Isn’t that a little too harsh?
He’s the perfect Lohengrin of the 21st century.
Yes he is the perfect emasculated, gender neutral Lohengrin for the 21st century.
The question is: will it be a typical no-show?
Very sorry to hear on Radio 3 today of the passing of Alexander Verendikov. I shall continue to enjoy his music making as it is broadcast.
