  • Joel Lazar says:

    Long may you wave, Maestro!

  • Olassus says:

    Seven.
Between now and three weeks from now.

  • Gustavo says:

    with dull repertoire

  • Alan says:

Didn’t just fill up. These concerts were announced ages ago.

  • Le Křenek du jour says:

I’m wondering how Maestro Blomstedt will handle the quarantine requirements. Vienna has been put on the Swiss “red” list, and Maestro Blomstedt’s home is near Lucerne.

  • Michael Turner (conductor) says:

Blomstedt is conductor whose superb artistry, I feel, has only really been truly acknowledged in the past 20 years or so. If that means that he is getting more bookings now that he’s 93, then all power to his elbow.

    • M2N2K says:

He is the only conductor I have ever seen/heard and/or worked with who in my opinion became noticeably better in his 80s than he was in his 50s and 60s. Stay well, Maestro!

  • Edward Makowski says:

I attended his Bruckner 4 performance at the Philharmonie in Paris this past January. Wonderful !

  • Barry Guerrro says:

S.F.’s loss is now Vienna and the rest of the world’s gain. I’ll let you read between the lines on that one. Let’s just say I’m happy E.-P. Salonen will eventually be coming to my town to replace the outgoing regime.

  • Luca says:

Remember Georges Prêtre and how he was considered a byword for mediocrity under he reached 90?
