Covent Garden eyes wage cuts
mainWe heard the musicians at the Royal Opera House were about to agree a second pay cut.
Here’s the official response from the ROH:
At the beginning of this crisis, Music Director Antonio Pappano agreed to waive all of his fees and salary, Chief Executive Alex Beard took a 25% pay cut and all staff whether furloughed or continuing work took a 20% reduction in pay, other than those earning £30k or less whose salary was fully protected, and those earning between £30 and £37,500 who had smaller reductions. Negotiations are in progress about future pay arrangements.
The report in the current Private Eye on the new ROH chairman does not bode well!
