Covid kills University of North Texas music prof
mainThe death has been announced of Keith Johnson, emeritus professor of trumpet at the University of North Texas College of Music. He was 77 and had been in a care home for dementia patients where he fell sick with Covid-19.
Keith had been a prominent player at Dallas Opera and Fort Worth Symphony.
Music director Graeme Jenkins writes: ‘Keith Johnson was a wonderful member of the Dallas Opera Orchestra. A man of outstanding musicianship and incredible charm. I will miss him very much. A real gem.’
Very sad news. Prof. Johnson was a great teacher and a wonderful man.
Covid-19 has released this poor man from the clutches and ravages of dementia. Some clouds do have silver linings.
It sounds like this man was a gem. Vale Keith Johnson.
Yes he was I never studied with him but read his books and anytime he did a workshop, clinic or master class in my area I would go to it. Always had great ideas for how to improve that worked when I got home and used them in the practice room.
