Comments

  • Larry L. Lash / Vienna says:

Volksoper Wien as well: no shows through 31. March. Still awaiting to see what happens with Theater a. der Wien which has schedules a sold-out run of “Leonore”/”Fidelio” (the second version) starting 16. March. The big draw is that the director is Vienna native and Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz. But it is a smaller theatre, and is not under the control of Bundestheater Holding, which controls Staatsoper, Volksoper, and Burgtheater.

  • Larry L. Lash / Vienna says:

Update: it is now clear that ALL Austrian venues – from stadiums to concert halls and opera houses to kinos – may not present an event for more than 100 spectators.

Theater an der Wien is pondering a “closed premiere” of “Leonore” and Livestreaming it to journalists. (All performances were sold out months in advance with a very long waiting list.)
