Death of a Scottish composer, 86
mainThe Dundee composer David Dorward died in East Lothian, on January 31.
The funeral is on Thursday at Warriston Crematorium.
A music producer at BBC Edinburgh from 1962 to 1991, Dorward wrote two symphonies, two concertos, three string quartets and many songs.
He deserves to be better known. His ingenious “Echo Dances” for one, two or three recorders shows a melodic gift allied to brilliant counterpoint and is an absolute gem!
Natives of Dundee are Dundonians.
David Dorward was educated at Dundee’s Morgan Academy, but he was a native of Monikie.
