An Australian is Germany’s latest music director
mainThe town of Coburg in Franconia has just named Daniel Carter as general music director of its Landestheater. He starts a year from now.
Carter, 30, has been Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the past two seasons and, before that, at Freiburg. He cut his milk teeth as assistant to Simone Young in Hamburg.
Not to be confused with Nicholas Carter, another Simone Young aide, who’s now chief baton in Klagenfurt.
Strewth! Whatever (and wherever) next?! Happy for him, he’s clearly been climbing the ladder in recent years.
Congratulations to him. Great news.
