Mehta to conduct Mariss Jansons memorial concert
mainBavarian Radio has scheduled a performance of Mahler’s second symphony in Munich for January 15, conducted by Zubin Mehta, with whom Jansons had a long friendship.
The soloists are Golda Schultz and Gerhild Romberger.
The day before would have been Mariss’s 77th birthday.
ZM is an ideal conductor for M2.
There isn’t better conductor to conduct Mariss Jansons’s memorial concert! Best choice!
A more fitting memorial could not be fashioned. I am sorry I will not be able to witness the event in real time. Bravo!
Mehta is the master of the Second Symphony.
A fitting tribute to Jansons.

Thank you Norman, for the latest info. Maestro Mehta is a warm-hearted conductor just like Mariss Jansons. Right after we had a terrible earthquake in 2011, Mehta came to Japan and did a concert to pay tribute. We were so touched. I hope that BR Kassik will let us see the Livestream from Japan in January.
