Brexit batons: Brit renews in Munich
mainThe Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz has signed on Anthony Bramall as music director for a further four years, keeping him til 2023.
Among his local triumphs is a German production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance.
well, he s in Germany for at least 30 years .. a good conductor, an excellent chef and a very nice person ..
what does this have to do with Brexit he has been working in Germany for years….
indeed!
But Pirates in German!
“How beautifully blue the sky…”
Can’t imagine it.
Pirates premiered in a German translation by Richard Genée and Camillo Walzel (Die Piraten) in Austria at the Theater an der Wien on 1 March 1889
I’ve seen The Mikado in German and it was dreadful.
Like all non-english operas at ENO. It is just terrible.
Die Gotterdammerung in Japanese?
It’s pretty dreadful in English anyway, isn’t it? G&S is awful.
It’s all about extension nowadays.
Business as usual.
Forget Brexit!
