Aussie bone wins big
mainThe Australian trombonist Jonathan Ramsey, principal of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, has won the 10,000-Euro Aeolus Wind Instruments Competition in Düsseldorf.
Second was the Scottish tuba player Ross Knight of Geneva.
Third was a Polish student, Lennard Czaka.
Nice to see low brass players getting some prize money. Congratulations to the Kings of the Bass Clef.
His name is Jonathon Ramsay, not Jonathan Ramsey.
I don’t know if he has taken a hiatus from the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra or if he is managing both, but he’s also an academist of the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Karajan Akademie since 2018.
