Jane Glover sets Chicago record
mainThe UK conductor has renewed her contract with Chicago’s Music of the Baroque to 2o23, taking her inton a third decade with the ensemble.
Glover, 70, is reckoned to be Chicago’s longest-serving current music director.
Bravo! Although sadly it means Europe will be seeing less of her.
Why? Chicago‘s Music of the Baroque does not have as extensive a season like some big symphony orchestras. It appears that they present 8 or so programs per season, half of which are conducted by Glover. That comes to about 4 weeks out of the year she commits to that ensemble.
Talking about long service. Hope you review Blomstedt’s new Mahler 9 with the Bamberg Symphony. It’s very good indeed!
Music of the Baroque-a first-rate ensemble.

Lucky Chicago!
