Where are they flying from, and to?
LEVEL doesn’t fly to Milan.
It does, from Amsterdam. But this was probably a charter flight.
You can buy tickets from Amsterdam to Malpensa on the LEVEL website, but it’s a Vueling flight.
Level is the new name for Vueling. Legally Vueling is still around but commercially it has ceased to exist. Hope this helps.
That is not correct. Vueling is a low cost carrier based in Barcelona (Spain) owned by the Anglo-Spanish company IAG that also owns British Airways, Iberia, and Vueling. They operate as independent companies. LEVEL is also based in Spain, also owned by IAG, and was founded to operate low-cost services in mid- and long routes to compete with Norwegian.
Being that it’s the Vienna Phil., it was probably a chartered flight.
Maybe they staged this photo and once it was taken, moved back up to their regular business class seats.
LEVEL is a low-cost carrier. It doesn’t have business class. They are already in the “space plus” section.
Maybe they did, Brian. Maybe there is a Tooth Fairy. Maybe the Moon is made of green cheese.
Blue cheese.
why would one even consider business class for such a short flight within Europe? You’ll even see highly paid managers in economy for those short haul flights, why not musicians? and the baton surely fits easily even into the tiniest overhead bin 😉
Right – pointless on such a short fligh
Airline classes of service are not only about cabin comfort and space. They also offer other advantages – such as priority boarding, higher limits on dimensions and weight of checked baggage, higher limits on carry-on items, flexibility on ticket changes, preferential conditions on ticket refund, and – in some cases – additional Air Miles benefits.
But their egos will not fit…
Did you read the review? Egos much smaller than their talent.
But what about the piano? 🙂
It’s a Rolex event, their expense policy probably only pays for coach on a short flight. That’s the way most companies operate nowadays (including mine) – nomatter who you are. Fly Coach vs Pay for Yourself to fly Business/First? LOL
Gustavo Dudamel had his musical education paid for by the people of Venezuela. He has joined the United States and through his silence becomes complicit in brutal sanctions intended to starve Venezuelan into submission. Treacher is a difficult stain to remove.
Intra-European business class is most of the time economy (plus) seats with an empty middle seat…and better food, but that’s it.
The key two words here: short flight.
Isn‘t the actual story to report here, why Vienna Phil is flown in, when the residence orchestra at La Scala should have been a natural first choice.
It‘s also strange, why NL fantasizes about business class and such, when it‘s kind of obvious that orchestra, soloists and conductor have taken a charter plane together?
This was Juan Diego Florez’s post, as the quote and heading show. He is with Gustavo Dudamel. They appeared together, along with Sonya Yoncheva and Jonas Kaufmann at the Rolex Gala Concert at La Scala. I watched it on Medici TV and it is still available to watch on Medici.
This is not news and reinforces classism that runs rampant in that world.
I know that Rolex didn’t pay travel nor extra hotel cost for spouse.
If you we’re on the same flight, would you ask for his autograph, or ignore him?
