Just in: A Doug Sheldon maestro finds new management
mainColumbia Artists are trying hard to hang on to the artists of ex-v-p Doug Sheldon who vanished without reason six weeks ago.
They have held the fort so far, but today Leonard Slatkin announced that he’s off.
Here’s the statement:
Jeff Berger Management is proud to announce exclusive representation in North and South America of world-renowned conductor Leonard Slatkin.
“At this stage of my career, I have an opportunity to place greater emphasis on special projects—some with orchestras, some in education, and some non-musical. I still have much that I would like to accomplish as a conductor, composer, and author, and having personalized support is critical to meeting my artistic goals. To that end, I have put in place a small management team to facilitate my conducting engagements and other professional endeavors. It will be led by Jeff Berger in collaboration with my executive assistant, Leslie Karr.” —Leonard Slatkin
According to Mr. Berger, “I started my career as a manager at Columbia Artists and ICM, and later served as a product manager at BMG Classics. All three experiences provided me the opportunity to work with Leonard Slatkin, who has remained a friend and the musician I most admire for more than 30 years. It is a privilege to provide the personal service Leonard requires at this point in his stellar career, and I look forward to working with him with the support of Leslie Karr.”
May God help Leonard Slatkin…
I don’t think God does concert management. Maybe I’m wrong.
He runs a small agency called ‘Sacred Synergy’ which distributes exceptional talent to specifically-selected musicians completely independent of worldly concerns and tries to ensure concert engagements for them through Divine Intervention, against a certain number of sincere prayers.
