Remember the Cat Concerto? Watch it live

The Tom and Jerry Cat Concerto is one of the most hilarious takes on concert life ever seen on the big screen.

Here’s a 21st century update.

  • Wonderful, and full plaudits to the young lady in question, a little levity where classical music is concerned is always welcome.

  • Pity the video is not extended to its full 7’49”. I have watched this many dozens of times over the years and still adore it! I believe it won an Oscar. Remember, too, that there is a Tom and Jerry performing the Fledermaus Overture at the Hollywood Bowl that is hilarious, as well as a few other T&J classical music cartoons.

And whilst on the subject, who can forget several Bugs Bunny classical cartoons including “The Rabbit of Seville”, :Rhapsody Rabbit” and all the Wagner in “What’s Opera, Doc?” This is the only full length version of the last one I can find on the internet.

  • It is weird to watch the cartoon and hear the original piece split between piano and orchestra.

And then it’s weirder to watch it accompanied live with everything put back into just the piano.
