the new production is of Beethoven’s leonore and not the more commonly played Fidelio; Fidelio will be revived in the now 50 year old schenk production later in the season
Excellent news! ‘Leonore’ is a superior opera to ‘Fidelio’, with much tighter dramaturgy to keep it hanging together.
