New music director brings 12% audience boost
mainThe Royal Scottish National Orchestra is ending its first season with Music Director Thomas Søndergård and Principal Guest Conductor Elim Chan showing a 12% audience spike in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen.
This makes Søndergård the most popular RSNO Music Director for over twenty years, says the orchestra.
He’s excellent and a welcome talent on the Scottish scene – he’s not following anything great so it’d be more surprising if his ticket sales DIDN’T show a rise!
He’s a fine musician and did some good work in Cardiff with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Cardiff’s loss is Glasgow’s gain. To have the hugely talented Elim Chan as guest is a real bonus too. Lucky RSNO, lucky Scotland.
“Sometimes I envision myself as a prism in which music and musicians are like the ray of white light that goes through one end of me.”
