Amos Oz is dead
mainThe Israeli novelist and thinker died today of cancer at 79.
Like Philip Roth, he wrote as he breathed. Both have died in the same bitter year, as did Aharon Appelfeld.
Like Philip, too, he never wrote an uninteresting book.
His autobiography, A Tale of Love and Darkness, reads like a psychological thriller.
May his soul rest among the righteous.
A great and important writer, who should have won a Nobel Prize for literature.
RIP. But this news not inside classical music.
A great man and a great writer. RIP
