The Dutch violinist, who has been indisposed for several months, was last night declared the recipient of the Dutch state award, the Johannes Vermeer Prize, worth 100,000 Euros.

She will receive the cheque on 29 October in The Hague from Culture Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven.

  • Wilhelmina Hardee says:

she is an exceptional artist and deserves this great price. Well done, Janine!

  • Lord Bus Stop says:

Congratulations indeed to this magical artist. This news has made my day.

  • Feurich says:

Most successful soloists make a lot of money from concert fees. These fees come from the budgets of orchestras that are invariably subsidized from states, provinces, municipalities, etc. That 100 k euros would have been better served had it been given to an artist who is not by default already state subsidized.
