And extremely rare! How many opera stars have had streets named after them anywhere in the world? I’ve just done a bit of googling and virtually nothing came up. Apparently Laurel, MS has named a street after Leontyne Price, but that’s about it.
Lucia Valentini Terrani has a small square named after her in Padova next to the Verdi theatre.
There are a few in Vienna, not surprisingly! Leonie Rysanek recently had both a small street (Leonie-Rysanek-Weg) and a park named after her, the latter not far from where she grew up in the Third District. There’s also a Patzakweg, named after Julius Patzak, and a Jan-Kiepura-Gasse.
Maria Cebotari- in Kishinev, Moldova where she was born; Dresden where he career took off; Salzburg where she sang at the Festspiele; Vienna where she died at the age of 39. A plaque on the wall of where she lived in Berlin….
