This has always been one of my favourite Brel works. I knew a fair amount about Jouannest – he also worked with (and eventually married) Juliette Greco, who did a cover of this song – but not that he had been one of its writers. Thanks, Norman, for this little tribute.
I adore this song, played it at our 40th wedding anniversary.
