Well Cutie Jonas, I would love to come and look at that handsome face and hear that wonderful voice but I live on the other side of the world. Sigh.
Of course, you went Sydney to hear the Parsifal, no?
Tickets impossible to get.
That’s too bad. On his first trip, a couple of seasons earlier, there were apparently some empty seats in both Sydney and Melbourne. I would have thought Parsifal would be a harder sell, esp. with three dates. Perhaps there was more publicity.
Available on a Munich DVD – hideous sets, unfortunately…
Well, it isn’t “pretty,” but it does have real, meaningful direction, and that cast delivers the intent with a wallop. Even Kowaljow is roused to something like life. It’s a good show.
Anyway, nice to know that Kaufmann is, at least, scheduled to sing this at Covent Garden. I see Christof Loy is penciled in for the production. He hasn’t exactly been an ROH audience favorite, although I liked the stripped-down Lulu a lot.
It is the production Loy did in Amsterdam earlier this season. I saw it and liked some but not all of his ideas
I’m most excited about the Kaufmann/Tézier reunion. Their chemistry was off the charts in the Munich Forza. As long as the director allows them to do their thing, we’re in for some good messy Foe Yay.
